On June 6, AFGE Local 12, AFL-CIO will hold a screening of “Uniquely Nasty” at the Frances Perkins Building, the national office of the U.S. Department of Labor. MSWDC President Charles Francis will speak along with Yahoo News investigative reporter Mike Isikoff.

The “Woman Behind the New Deal,” Frances Perkins was FDR’s Secretary of Labor. Although her biographer has uncovered at least one lesbian relationship, Perkins was asked to testify in a 1950 closed-door Senate hearing, as a Commissioner of the U.S. Civil Service Commission, on the crisis of homosexuals working for the Federal Government.
